ECTS / Learning Outcomes

The summer school offers 2 ECTS.

The summer school has the objective to support PhD researchers in their individual research and specific research stage through the sharing of work with keynotes and colleagues. Accordingly, participants will develop their skills in articulating and communicating their ideas, in examining  various STS methods and techniques to approach cities, and in discussing their research and obstacles in an academic setting. The three sessions of problematizing, describing and assembling allow participants in various stages of their research learn about the relevance of STS methodologies and concepts for urban research in general and for their research stage and interest in particular. This relevance can also be discovered by researchers not yet familiar with the approach or interested in learning a subset of its concepts (e.g. networks or artifacts) and methodologies (e.g. ethnography or digital methods).

Participants will learn concepts to question the city from an STS perspective (problematizing), they will be introduced to the methodologies to tackle these questions (describing), and will encounter ways of thinking through the questions and form answers (assembling).
